What working abroad pays
In Norway the bottom rate is set by law. In construction it is 239.61 NOK/h from day one and 264.32 NOK/h with a trade certificate. Fish processing starts at 228.65 NOK/h and road transport at 229 NOK/h.
Experienced trades with our partners are on 270–300 NOK/h, about €25–€27 an hour. Overtime is at least +40 % by law and holiday pay of 10.20 % comes on top.
Nobody can honestly promise a monthly total: it is the rate times the hours you work, and the project sets the hours. Work out your own number with your own inputs.

What do you need to work abroad in Norway?
Practical information about documents and first steps when starting work abroad
Before departure
- Valid ID card or passport
EU/EEA citizens only need an ID card. Make sure the document is valid for at least 6 months.
- Employment contract
T&A Nordic provides an official employment contract before departure. Required for registration.
- Bank account details
Your existing bank account (Latvian or other EU country) - first salaries can be received there.
- Health insurance
EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) - available free from your health insurance provider.
First weeks in Norway

Questions about working abroad
How much can you earn working abroad in Norway?
The rate is set by law: at least 239.61 NOK/h in construction and from 228.65 NOK/h in fish processing. Experienced trades with our partners are on 270–300 NOK/h. The month is the rate times the hours you work, and the project sets the hours.
Does the employer pay for travel?
Some employers cover or reimburse travel, but not all. It is known before you sign, so ask when a specific place is on the table.
Can you work abroad without experience?
Yes. Fish plants and warehouses train on site, and some construction sites take helpers. Experience raises the rate, but you can start without it.
Do I need Norwegian?
Not to start. Sites and plants run in English. Norwegian raises your rate later.
How does housing work?
The employer usually arranges a room, and the rent of €455-€500 a month is deducted from your pay. If anyone offers free housing, ask exactly what is included.
What documents do I need?
An EU or EEA passport or ID card. In Norway you sort the D-number and tax card in your first week, and the employer orders your HMS site card.
How fast can I start?
